Help!

I need you incredible moms to help me out with a couple of things if you would. First, Brielle can now roll from her tummy to back whenever she wants, and thus I don't think she will ever crawl. What do I do?

Second I am flying with her next week. Any ideas on how to make the airplane ride nice for her and me, besides drugging her?

here's my two cents worth. :) christopher didn't really ever crawl properly until after he started walking, which was right around his first birthday. he did a little army-crawl scooting thing, and was perfectly happy getting around that way. lots of babies (especially ones who sleep on their backs instead of their tummies) don't actually crawl until 10 months. that's what naomi did, and she started walking right around 12 months too. so, my opinion is that they'll develop at their own pace, and that it's not too big of a deal. if you do want her to crawl sooner, you might up the amount of tummy time she's getting. i had to make a big effort with naomi, cause she HATED it! after she could roll off her tummy on her own, i started putting her on her tummy on a boppy, so she couldn't roll off. worked well for her, i think. so, that's my crawling advice.
as for traveling - we've done our fair share of that, and here's what i've learned. it's a big, huge pain, but worth it for the actual flight - pack a big diaper bag, or any kind of bag (i like the ones with lots of little pockets so i can find stuff with only one hand) with toys, snacks, sippy cups (the stewardesses will fill it up for you, even though you can't bring drinks through security, you can just bring an empty one) or bottles, diapers, change of clothes, and anything that helps her feel safe (familiar blanket, or stuffed animal or something). i've never needed it, but i also always bring infant tylenol and a tiny first aid kit. oh, i also always pack the carry-on with the assumption that the plane will be delayed and we'll be stuck at the airport or something (so, i guess i bring twice as many diapers and twice as many snacks). unfortunately, i have had times where i've had to use the extra stuff, and i've been glad i had it. some people recommend bringing an extra shirt for you (for spit up, or whatever), but i don't usually do that. maybe a brand-new toy or two for the diaper bag too. i also always bring the stroller, and keep it through security, and then gate check it. helps with carrying all the bags and keeps the kid restrained :) another thing i like is to change diapers before boarding, and only changing diapers on the plane if i absolutely have to. and a bottle or pacifier or nursing during take-off and landing helps with the ear pressure (i give christopher some gum or a gummy bear to chew on, since he's old enough). you can also check her carseat without it counting as another bag, so that's handy to have her own carseat that you're familiar with at your destination.
okay, so this is a crazy-long comment, but i hope it helps some! good luck!

Sarah covered all the bases really well. I haven't flown too many times, but I can't think of anything to add. So glad you get to go be with your brother. So fun.

About the crawling--again I agree with Sarah. No biggie. Your Brielle will be on the move before you know it--into everything and life just gets that much more exciting!!! She is such a cutie.

By the way, that picture of you on your blog is great! You look really pretty there.

Oh...she'll crawl. The rolling thing is just fun! Lizzy was a fairly late crawler. She did the army crawl...pulling herself with her arms. Oh well...it was still a crawl...just a dirty, mop the floor with your shirt one. :) As for the plane...nurse her during take-off and landing. It will really help her ears. OR, try a sippy cup, lolipop. She just needs to be swallowing a lot. I have tried Benadryl before. I had mixed reactions. Give it a whirl before you go maybe. Good luck!

Amen to everyone's comments. First, each baby develops differently and at their own pace. If you needed to worry about Brielle, you'd KNOW it. Second, amen to "overpacking" and taking extras of everything on the plane. We just got done flying Ethan for the first time and I took an empty cup and lots of chewy things to eat and lots of coloring materials. (you'd obviously adjust to whatever she's familiar with and likes to play with now). He was awesome on the plane rides.
