New OB/GYN

Hi All. I'm looking for a new OB/GYN to go to. I went to the Provo OB/GYN clinic before and I would not like to go back. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? If you love your doctor, I would really appreciate it if you would leave the name or clinic of your doctor either in the Utah Valley or in SLC so I can see if they work for me. Thank you so much!!

I love my Doctor. Doctor Shelley Savage. She's not an OBGYN but she checks me out and delivers babies. I like her A LOT. I sent Rachel to her, and I know that Rachel didn't like the support staff much, but I haven't asked her recently for an update. She's on the Provo/Orem hill on State Street. 801.373.2001

Wow... I have lots of thoughts on this one... perhaps done better on a phone call though. If you want my tidbits, give me a call. (I am biased though, I worked at UVRMC in Mother Baby for 3 years.) xo

I see Robert Later, in Sandy. He specializes in infertility, and he's one of the few doctors in the area who will do a VBAC and who stitches after a c-section instead of stapling.

I adore him. He delivers/has offices above the Women's Center at Alta View Hospital.

The Dr. that did my emergency c-section was amazing. I loved him. His name is James R. Nelson and practices in American Fork. He's who I am going to go do for our next baby. :) Good luck!

Hi~~ I LOVE my doctor he is at the new IMED hospital up here in SLC his name is Dr. Irion and he is with a group of doctors that transfered from Cottonwood Hospital I think they are still called Cottonwood OBGYN. He is very good and his associates are also very good I know alot of people who go there and LOVE all teh doctors in the practice. He also has a great nurse that I love name Susan, unless she is on vacation (which is not that often) she is always there so it is nice because you always see the same nurse and they get to know you! If you need or want the number let me know!! Also Brielle is so dang cute and getting so big!!

The best OB in the WORLD is in Logan, Utah if you're willing to make the drive (Dr. Kimberly McCulloch) but the next best thing would have to be Shelley Savage. I've been really happy with her and, yes, I did have a couple weird experiences with the support staff but one is no longer there and it's been good since. She's at Grandview Family Medicine...I'll get her number for you if you want. I know she's accepting new patients.

I've gone to a clinic of midwives in AF. That may sound too crazy to some people, but it's just like seeing a OB/GYN. You don't have to go natural and they do all the same monitoring that doctors would do. They just have a more natural approach--avoiding medical interventions that some doctors consider standard. The nice thing is that you meet with a new midwife each appt (there are about 6 of them), so come labor day you'll actually know who's catching your baby (as opposed to getting whatever doctor is on-call in other practices). They do VBACs as well. I've loved my experience with them, and it's totally worth the drive to AF. Let me know if you want more info...

P.S. I forgot to tell your husband what a sweet job he did with his musical number in church FOREVER ago! Please pass that on to him...I don't think I've seen him since. You are a beautiful pianist, as well. Good job, you two!!!
Also, along with the other doctor comments, my mom really likes her OB/GYN in Salt Lake...a woman...can't remember her name, but I can get her info., as well, if you want to research her a bit. One more plug about Dr. Savage...she almost never misses a delivery. I had Emma pretty fast and she RACED from a ward Halloween party, crazy hair and all, to make it and I always really appreciated that.

Hey Shar,
After reading everyones comments I think the two biggest questions will be "Do you want to have a vbac?"(in the case of a single birth)and " Is this doctor experienced in high risk cases?" Some Doctors will claim they are but don't go off of what a doctor CLAIMS. Check there background like where they studied, how many high risk cases do they deal with etc. Another good question to ask yourself is "How do I feel about episiotomies,PIT,and special testing in utero?" Also where does the doctor deliver at and what level of NICU does it have. Given your past history I would suggest a level three NICU with the ability to take babies at 22 wks gestation. I think the only two that can do that are primary childrens and where uncle Ron works. Anyway lots of things to consider when picking a provider.
